ElevenLabs releases ElevenMusic for AI-powered song creation to compete against Suno and Udio
Eleven notes of music
Voice AI company ElevenLabs today released its AI-powered music generation app, ElevenMusic, to take on Suno and Udio. The company had already listed the app on the App Store prior to the release, as we reported earlier in the week.
The app, which is currently only available on the App Store, lists tons of AI-generated tracks and artists with different genres.
The app feels like a cousin of Apple Music in design sensebilities when you look at artists, albums, and the featured section. The company also features Eleven Album, an album it created in collaboration with top producers using its music AI models.
Just like any music streaming service, you can like songs and create playlists out of them. The core change is that you can pick any existing track and create a remix out of it using natural language prompts. Notably, YouTube also has a similar feature that lets users remix songs using AI.
You can also use the app to create an entirely new song with text prompts. While creating, ElevenLabs’ model chooses the duration, track being a lyrical song or instrumental, and the writing engine for lyrics automatically. Users can configure all of this and also choose the number of track variations the app publishes. When you generate a song, the app automatically creates an album art.
At the moment, users seemingly get to generate seven songs per day, which can increase with referrals.
The app also has daily mixes, new releases, and even a live radio. It’s not clear if a music producer is using ElevenLabs’ tool to stream music in real-time.
ElevenLabs’ app is not as advanced as some other rivals like Suno or Udio, but it is a start. The app could also be a showcase of the company's music generation clients, which would be helpful in driving enterprise clients.
The company released its Music AI model last year, claiming that it is commercially safe, allowing people to use the created music in most places. The company is also making moves to place itself in the creative workflow for videos, images, audio, sound effects, and music with the launch of its new creative platform.
Until now, ElevenLabs has concentrated on the technical and professional side of the AI-led music creation. With the new app, the company wants to cater to consumers and possibly wants to nudge people to be creators by making or remixing new songs.
